Artist's Welcome
Roanoke Island Arts is the brainchild of Artist, Mary Barker.
A practicing artist for more than 30 years, Mary holds a Master’s degree in Studio Art/Art History.
From early in her career, she has exhibited paintings, sculpture, and natural crafts at museums and galleries
across the country, Great Britain and Australia.
In 1996, she moved from her home in Eastern Kentucky to Roanoke Island on the Outer Banks of North Carolina where she began to create pine needle baskets to add to her already varied repertoire of natural crafts. Pine needle baskets, cornhusk dolls, grapevine crafts and assemblage art are among the works that will be featured on this site.
