Pine Needle Baskets
Mary became interested in the variety of pine needles on the ground near her home, which led to research and finally completed baskets. Each is a one-of-a-kind work of art that she names with women’s names that come from something or someone that inspired its creation. Her baskets are made from local varieties of pine needles and are sewn together with an assortment of cotton strings and cords that she waxes herself with a mixture of beeswax and paraffin for durability. Her designs are inspired by her surroundings and a love for functional art.
